The Mission

Slaver De Niro kills his brother in a jealous rage and then attempts to atone.
Roland Joffe directed this 1986 film starring De Niro and Jeremy Irons. Takes a hard look at the Church and missionaries...do they do more harm than good?
Takes a sympathetic viewpoint of native South American culture and how it was ravaged by greed and politics.

Literate, intelligent, somewhat long to eventually reach an ending that comes as no surprise. But a noble effort and worth your time. May be seen as a companion piece to At Play in the Fields of the Lord.
